Friday night in Berlin and we’re expecting you for this exceptional party of electronic artists par excellence! Upstairs in the +4Bar the focus is on the Connect Four Label and as we often enjoy doing, the dancefloor and decks are given up to the label for their showcase. Patrick Bateman is from Copenhagen, the Tic Tac Toe boss is not only a revered producer of stripped minimal and layered tech-house, but so too is he a much in demand remixer. Over the course of his long career, the man known as Kenneth Broxgaard has undertaken a host of remix requests from a wide array of artists covering a number of different genres. His involvement in the Danish scene goes even deeper than that though, with 20 years experience of organizing parties and supporting other labels in the country as well as further afield. Evolving from an early love of rave and Italo house, on to Detroit and Chicago sounds and then to the loopy perfection of Sweden’s minimal techno aesthetic, Patrick Bateman’s DJ sets confound as much as they astound. He spins energetic mixes that, in the last decade, have seen him become one of the leaders of the new school. Fellow Dane Lars Gregers is most often known for his association with Simon Damborg as Blagger. Lars is a DJ, a VJ, producer, graphic designer, clubpromoter, a lover and a fighter, and has nearly 20 years of experience in the club circuit. He plays a mixture of techno and house with a warm and human feel. He has a history in US house from Chicago and New York and mix it up with European Techno and Minimal. In addition the line-up welcomes Highgrade artist Jacob Thiessen aka Jacob Phono who transforms feelings and pictures into music, creating music that rips up the sub-consciousness and summons a new reality within the existing world. The one thing that has always been fundamental within his creations is the deep raw sound of his beats and bass lines and the constant development of these otherwise basic elements. The Phono experience can be described as deep clubbing with a twist of darkness entwined with a spark of light, kind of transcendental disco-techno. But you definitely have to find time for the Tresor basement floor tonight because it will be cooking with the might of the Dangerous Drums. Planned is a virtual crème de la crème of Berlin artists for a rollicking and superb night of electronica. Not only are two of Berlin’s godfathers of techno on hand – Tanith and Mijk Van Dijk – but the intensity is further driven by DJ Vela (photo), ED2000, Tim Thaler, Basskim, Stephan Krietsch and Rollin Thunder. What? And it’s only Friday? That’s right and you’ve tuned into us now so there’s no turning back – it’s all about fun and electronic bliss now baby!
