Mike Huckaby – Detroit: Bringing the best to Berlin

Wuha, what a great journey into Detroit sound again – Mike Huckaby made it back to Berlin and this for a very good reason:
On Saturday 14th of July 2012 it was the Tresor Record Release Party, Tresor.252 – The Tresor EP by Mike Huckaby. And just before the night started, Mike was spinning the deep tunes at beats & boats, but take a look for yourself:

Mike is an active player since more than two decades and has so much more on his desk than just buying vinyl. He´s not only an originator of great sounds, but with his skills in production, Mike also puts his fingers on software-development as you could see at the latest CDR showcase in Berlin. Mike develops stuff for companies like Ableton and Machine and fools around with the latest gadgets like sketching new sounds with the imachine on the Ipad. And all this knowledge is transferred to his pupils within the youthville project. So there was an interesting presentation taking place at Prince Charles: the IOS showcase hosted by CDR. A showcase for all lovers of music which informed about all options that are on the table when its about production methods with apps on the Ipad and Iphone.

So another issue to check out is Resident Advisors clip-series, this time featuring Real Scenes: Detroit. This film gives a deeper insight of Detroit originiators and creators behind the scene – a good overview of the Detroit Techno movement and a peek inside the activity of Mike within the Youthville music class project:

But let´s get back to where this journey started: at Tresor. Mike was hitting the Globus floor at primetime and the audience deeply embraced his sounds, screaming and shouting out for more when he was done. Mike played a great set and made this night a full success and we were able to continue our 1:1 talk about upcoming projects and beyond, so stay tuned for the upcoming Tresor.iginal Magazine #010 – with the main feature story about Mike Huckaby (coming up mid of August 2012). It just seemed like the invader from another planet has landed and he was coming in peace. Thanks Mike, you rock!
