காவடி (pronounced Kavadi) explores the soundscapes of the Tamil diaspora by depicting personal and collective memories. காவடி is a Dravidian ritual for Lord Murugan, the God of War, where the devotees carry, on their body, the physical burden which emphasizes debt bondage, usually for loved ones or for balancing ones own spiritual debt. With field recordings from Eelam (northern parts of Sri Lanka) alongside various sound elements traditionally used in temples and spiritual worship, காவடி explores stories about faith, displacement, escape and battle.
