Raised in San Francisco and based in Berlin, DJ and producer Chloe Lula is known for her distinct introspective and atmospheric sound. Originally trained as a classical cellist, Chloe left the conservatory at 18 when she discovered electronic music, moving to Berlin shortly thereafter to immerse herself in the city’s burgeoning techno scene. The confluence of these worlds has forged her textural approach to techno and inspired her to return to her instrument. Today, she uses the cello to write full-length ambient, electroacoustic live shows as well as deconstructed tones and timbres that help form the unique character of her releases for the dance floor.

Chloe is a resident DJ at Tresor and has played widely across Asia, Europe, India, and North and South America. In addition to her release on Tresor, she has put out music on Mord, Blueprint, Falling Ethics and the vaunted experimental imprint Subtext, and has scored and composed for theater, film and television. Beyond the studio, Chloe is dedicated to exploring the contours of club culture and its role as an instrument of solidarity and political struggle. She curates, hosts and produces interviews and long-form features on these topics for Resident Advisor, and conceptualizes RA’s discourse programming at festivals like Atonal, Nuits Sonores, Dekmantel, Unsound, Rewire and more.
