Dutch artist Reynier Hooft van Huijsduijnen is Deniro, producer, DJ and co-founder of Tape Recordings in Amsterdam. He is also associated with Voyage Direct, a record label established to represent the wealth of electronic music talent coming out of the Netherlands, and also is affiliated with Berlin label Trip. Dublin-born artist Peter Sweeney, has released music under a number of different aliases since 2009, but Rustal has remained his constant, allowing him to cultivate a reputation for himself. Today, techno, atmospheric techno and dub have become strong fixtures in his repertoire: his debut EP Privilege, was released on Melbourne label, Short Black Records. Tonight’s new faces are welcomed and hosted by our excellent resident Mareena. Upstairs in Globus: a Beste Modus showcase. Beste Modus is a young collective of DJs and producers / record label out of East Berlin consisting of Diego Krause, Cinthie, stevn.aint.leavn, Ed Herbst and Albert Vogt. The crew’s sound is full of soul and aimed straight at the dance floor, building on the various impulses that each individual member brings to the collective. Cinthie, a Berlin-based DJ and producer, is the creative mind behind the Beste Modus and Unison Wax record labels. Linked by a shared penchant for good house music and a love of Berlin’s unending parties, the crew have already pressed four eagerly-sought-after white label 12″s together. If that wasn’t enough, Cinthie also owns and runs the ‘Stasi Studios’ complex – so called because the building once functioned as a Stasi office! After a more experimental period, Ed Herbst fell in love with house music, centering around New Jersey house and dub-infused garage but always feeding his DJ sets with a big range of different styles from NY house to deep Italo house and techno and dubtech. Despite his wide variety of musical influences, Ed always handles the turntables with a very classic approach, delivering a sound that is deep and dubby but very bumpy at the same time. Stefan Marx is stevn.aint.leavn: following his love for dance music and the fattest of fat-ass drums, Stevo currently floats between rough old school house and banging techno-ish productions, and is also co-founder of Certain Circles. Sean and Liam Willers are The Willers Brothers: you can expect an energetic, entertaining performance each and every time. Add in their intuitive selection, ability to engage with their audience throughout their sets and you’ve got a winning formula! The Willers Brothers now hold a long-standing residency at the infamous Egg London, where they have played alongside an almost endless list of the electronic music world’s most famous names.
