Brit Dez Williams is inspired by many of the classic Chicago / Detroit / electro / techno producers, like the finest, his sound is unique, uncompromising and unpredictable. His vision of techno is deep and futuristic with a heavy dose of funk. Dez‘s passion for sound and the darker side of the human spirit compels him to create tracks on an almost daily basis and he sits on an incredibly vast archive of cassettes, mini-discs and CD’s of his work. Dez remains true to the underground and his tracks can range from driving techno, to melancholy and dark synthesizer orchestrations, ghostly deep listening, straight up electro cuts and beyond. Sometimes simple, sometimes complex, within his sounds are vast amounts of detail for the listener to decipher. Emotions transmitted through mathematics and code. Carlota is a composer, music producer, live performer and DJ based in Berlin. As her exploration progressed through compositional, music production and live performance direction, Carlota devoted her work flow to generative processes on the modular synthesizer. Her first release has just been on трип, contributing with two tracks to the label’s newest compilation ‘Happy New Year! We Wish You Happiness!’ Both of these artists are welcomed and hosted by our skilled resident Mareena: her influences range far and wide, including anything from Detroit and Chicago acid to the more hypnotic take on dub, ambient, and techno. Throughout the years Mareena has performed extensively both locally and internationally, accomplishing the rare feat of earning a reputation solely as a DJ and curator. In the +4Bar we present this summer’s first edition of Bonito House Club. Magnus von Welck, Jesse Scherwitz, Julius Richter are Aroma Pitch, an electronic music trio from Berlin and originally from Cologne. With their unforeseeable and unique collection of throbbing techno, synthesized disco, raw house and other world rhythms they provide a continual mood of surprise and discovery to their listeners. Since 2011 Aroma Pitch have been resident DJs and co-curators of the party series “Cologne Sessions” which takes place at Studio 672 and has its focus on improvised live music and extraordinary DJ sets. After moving to Berlin in 2012 the collective founded their own record label called APR on which they release their own tracks on vinyl. No matter if they perform live or as a DJ team, Aroma Pitch surprises the audience and leaves them amazed with their versatile taste in dance music. As a host of Cologne Sessions and some other off-location clubnights, MK Braun is not only the mastermind behind some of the best parties in town, but is also improving himself as one of Cologne’s most versatile Vinyl-only DJs. Being mostly known as a late-night DJ, ranging between Detroit-, Acid-House, Electro and Techno MK Braun is also very much into Italo-Disco and all kinds of obscure and weird sounds. It’s an exploration into the deepest realms of organic techno and stripped down house. But most notably, Caim is the love child of a musical bromance that started in 2016 – when Tommy Kornuijt and Mark Antoni first discovered their shared obsession for analogue gear and immersive grooves – and is now reaching maturity. They started their Caim label together and remain very productive and known for their notoriously deep and long (after hour) DJ sets.
