Female:Pressure 007
Fri 20 January 2017 - 23:59

The return of our continuing Female:Pressure nights, with a handful of very talented DJs. Brit artist Stephanie Sykes belongs to the league of yet young artists, a fact that is hard to believe when you consider her Fullpanda debut “Luna Tactus” together with Fjäder aka Ina Matsdotter. Her ambient-techno concepts are accessible and positioned for special cold and lonely hours. This is due part to her residency at the revived tradition night Atomic Jam, where Sykes regularly provides the sound of one of techno’s cutting-edge epicenters: Birmingham. Russian-born and Brooklyn-based Mary Yuzovskaya has graced the decks of all hotspots in the Russian club scene and moved to Berlin in 2009 where she eventually established her identity as an electronic music artist. In 2013, she traveled to New York, inspired by the city’s endless energy and music-friendly environment. Mary has been traveling the world playing a variety of genres, from atmospheric and dub to energetic techno bombs. She is a natural-born DJ, mixing vinyl with style, grace and lightness. Vinyl-lover Simona Calvani, aka DJ Red, is a Rome-Berlin based DJ producer. She can be considered as one of the most influential DJ in the Roman techno scene in the last 10 years. After spending several years absorbing music trends in some of Europe most prominent club scenes, she eventually decided to settle in Berlin where she’s now producing music for label such as BPitch Control and Electric Deluxe. Frequent Tresor guest Kaltès is a musician, producer with an extensive background in music and art.. Now a passionate collector of strange and rare instruments, Kaltès is the sound-infatuated half of Anna Otto. She is also known as the promoter of “It’s Not Only Techno, Baby!”, an event she regularly host in Istanbul. Upstairs in the +4Bar: Red Pig Flower is a London and Berlin based DJ, producer and artist. She started her career as a professional DJ at club Rooty (Tokyo) and Air (seoul), and sizzled up the dance floor with a tribal beat in an impressive style. Red Pig Flower’s most extraordinary skill is her habit of getting people’s hearts racing with tribal beats and cooling the steam off with upbeat techno sets. However from 2010 she moved to London to continue to explore new beats and grooves: now her set is more experimental and interesting with variety of tribal beat and experimental sounds by Ableton Live. Producer Emika is an Anglo-Czech talent who was classically trained in her youth, later discovering the limitless world of electronic composition that would provide the yin to her formative yang. She launched Emika Records in 2014 in search of freedom and independence, an experience which inspired the imprint’s third release: Drei, Emika‘s third full-length album, released on May 4th 2015. Lauren Flax is a DJ, songwriter & record producer. Her discography is extensive, flush with originals, collaborations and remixes, including projects with a long list of world class talent such as Grammy-nominated artist Sia, Kim Ann Foxman, Romy XX and Tricky. In addition tonight, RAG will be on the decks. Resident and programmer of the Paris Barbieturix nights (website, fanzine, event nights), her sets look just as boosted as her collective being one of the proud representatives of the French capital’s electro-queer scene.
