Grounded Theory #37
Fri 22 September 2017 - 23:59

Grounded Theory is hosting events in Berlin and outside on a regular basis and is representing several artists in booking and business related issues in the techno genre. A roster of top-notch techno artists guarantee a quality night of electronic music. Tonight’s #37: American artist David Flores aka Truncate is an alias of Audio Injection which focuses more on deep, raw techno. His Truncate releases have been gain critical acclaim from world class underground talent, as well as remixes for artists across the musical spectrum. With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground. Releasing on Tresor Records under his alias Karl O’Connor, Regis has a greater mythology surrounding the influential Downwards label that he has run with fellow art terrorist Peter Sutton (Female) since 1993. Unconventional and single-minded to say the least (what label can boast a back catalogue free of the industry standard cash cow remix) by decentralising the focus on the DJ/producer personality, Regis remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene, often collaborating with Function under the Sandwell District moniker – a true underground legend. Grounded Theory artist and co-founder, DJ, producer, promoter and owner of his own Manhigh imprint and cutting-edge releases on K209, Henning Baer is no stranger to the Tresor decks.  a DJ of worldwide renown for ability and tastes, Henning Baer forged his enviable résumé with his own hands. Following on years of closely-synchronized work with fellow resident Milton Bradley, Henning Baer asserted greater independence with innovative production styles on an EP for Taanstaafl Planets. Wrong Copy aka Pablo Mateo‘s Artful Rifle label opened last in May with the release of his own Tentlover EP. The Berlin-based producer’s profile has risen in recent years with records put out on the likes of Die Orakel, Uncage, LACKREC. and Curle – along with one for Marcel Dettmann’s MDR, credited to his Wrong Copy alias. In the +4Bar: Doc Sleep co-owns Jacktone Records and is a resident of Room 4 Resistance at about blank in Berlin. Her first two 12″ EPs are out now on Bottom Forty and Detour Records. Exos is one of the most experienced and respected artists within the circuit of techno and dub techno in Iceland. Active since 1997, he has released three albums and more than twenty singles on labels like Mosaic and Thule Records also has collaborated with Nina Kraviz and joined her label трип (Trip) in 2015. трип is an idiosyncratic electronic music label, amongst other things it is known for its label launch parties.
