Smallville is the release arm of the same named record store in Hamburg, and from this unity we are given yet again a terrific house set by Just von Ahlefeld aka Dionne, who has in the past shown his turntable talents on House of Waxx nights. He is part of the collectivized group Smallpeople, and his Back On The Planet EP a few years back revealed some infectious, smokey deep house talent. As a DJ and producer, Dionne has made a name for himself with a deep grooving style. Last February he and Julius Steinhoff released their 2nd LP together “Afterglow” on Smallville. The press release describes the LP as continuing on with the duo’s typically subtle sound, “equal parts Detroit, Chicago and Hamburg,” along with a “cheeky glimpse of Smallpeople as peak-time heroes.” Returning to House Of Waxx one year after his last appearance, Tornado Cowboy (CCL) specializes in the liquefaction of rhythmic and melodic matter – combustive phase transitions through cowgirl-breaks, trip-funk, wiggle steppers. Tornado Cowboy is part of electronic music and art collective TUF as well as working as co-director on New Forms Festival, Action Potential, Research and Decibel: their hard work is helping to shape North America’s music community. In the past year, their mixes and sets introduced international listeners to their distinct sound and received accolades from RA, Pitchfork, Mixmag and FACT, but they suggest you meet them on the dancefloor. Together with C.L.A.W.S., Pablo Roman-Alcala aka Beaner is WarVsSleep and is one third of supergroup the 3 Good Doctors with Agaric and Ed Davenport. Having toured internationally before settling in Berlin with a residency at the infamous Bar25, Beaner is affiliated with a handful of distinguished labels, and in 2012 he launched anarcho-situationist cult-label-brigade “La Mission”.
