Every Monday we involve different DJs, labels, residents or record shops to host a night with like-minded artists, BFFs and respected colleagues in Globus. The focus lies in vinyl DJing, buddy atmo and just flat-out good vibes. All in hyperfat sound, brought to you by Void Acoustics. Spin that mofo! Tonight House Of Waxx presents very special guest John “Jammin” Collins. From his beginnings as a resident at legendary Detroit club Cheeks in 1986 (he was joined there by one Jeff Mills a year later) to hosting his revered show live from the Warehouse Nightclub on WJLB FM in the ‘90s and championing the music of artists like Mike Banks and Kevin Saunderson, Collins has been at the heart of the Motor City’s underground house and techno scene since its genesis. His resumé is extensive – producer, DJ, label exec, manager, promoter, booking agent – half of those as a member of the Underground Resistance family. If you’re looking for a legend, you can’t get deeper than this and your Monday night is set in stone. Amsterdam clubbing these days wouldn’t be the same without the ongoing efforts of DJ/producer/promoter/label owner Carlos Valdes. Not only has he enriched the city’s nightlife with a series of refreshing initiatives, but also introduced new artists from abroad and pushed a young generation of local talent. He’s also managed to become one of Holland’s most respected and loved underground DJs, setting dancefloors aflame across the Netherlands and abroad. Norman Methner is also on the decks: falling back on a broad spectrum of electronic dance music and modern club tracks, listeners of his DJ sets will be very likely to meet good old friends of disco, house, acid, Chicago & Detroit genres – keeping boredom far away and the floor moving. And this is the definite House Of Waxx goal.
