THE POTENTIAL: dedicated to the creative exchange between Detroit and Berlin. Under the aspect “Learning from Detroit / Learning from Berlin”, the task is to promote subcultural exchange for urban development. This year comprises of the Panels program, the presentation of a Hip Hop project (Be-Troit), various live performances, two Detroit Techno club nights, workshops for prospective music producers and a public neighborhood meeting (Berlin Soup / Detroit Soup). Tresor/Globus will serve as the main venues.
Tonight on the Tresor Floor we present two Detroit giants of techno music. Blake Baxter has been an integral member of the Tresor family since the inception of the club and label, and his sets in both Globus and Tresor, as well as his infamous recordings, are essential to the foundation of our home. DJ T-1000 is also known for his remarkable turntable magic on both floors as well, not to mention his ground-breaking Tresor debut Progress in 1999. And tonight he celebrates his 20th anniversary set. A powerhouse night is guaranteed, a nod to the past and a good bangin’ floor-full of future! Complementing the basement line-up is Italian-born and Berlin-based Madalba of Femme Fraktale, and more recently with the Detroit-based crew Detroit Techno Militia; and excellent Tresor techno resident Mareena. In Globus, Scott Grooves is a frequent and welcome guest in our home. Scott forged a friendship with Kevin Saunderson, which lead to tinkling the keyboards for Inner City and his debut on Soma with the sublime “A New Day”. Scott Grooves has been running his own label “From The Studio Of Scott Grooves” since 1999. Sky Deep is a producer, DJ, musician and live performer. Now living in Berlin she’s from the NYC & Los Angeles areas. She is the founder of Berlin’s Reveller Records and Reclaim the Beats Festival. And another of our best Tresor Club residents Magda El Bayoumi rounds off the Globus program.
