THE POTENTIAL - DAY II
Sat 10 June 2017 - 23:59

THE POTENTIAL: dedicated to the creative exchange between Detroit and Berlin. Under the aspect “Learning from Detroit / Learning from Berlin”, the task is to promote subcultural exchange for urban development. This year comprises of the Panels program, the presentation of a Hip Hop project (Be-Troit), various live performances, two Detroit Techno club nights, workshops for prospective music producers and a public neighborhood meeting (Berlin Soup / Detroit Soup). Tresor/Globus will serve as the main venues.

Formed by DJ/producer Mark Flash and musician Michael Banks, Depth Charge, like the name implies, is a Detroit made explosion of sound.  Hard edged techno with electro elements, Depth Charge blends classic sounds with the new and unreleased tracks from UR and beyond.  This is not music for people to sip cocktails – this is only for people who like to move! Hong Kong born and raised in Canada, Stuart Li aka Basic Soul Unit’s house & techno productions can swing from lush and soulful to crunchy and jacking. 2013 also marked the inaugural EP release of his own label Lab.our which he started with longtime friend Jason Ulrich. Basic Soul Unit’s live set expresses the rawness and honesty of his productions. Our friend Mike Huckaby is a pioneer who has done much for Detroit electronic music. The man behind the once legendary Record Time store is a person who can see beyond the hype and divisions within the scene. With numerous highly acclaimed deep house productions and remixes on internationally renowned labels, Mike Huckaby brings the Detroit sound of deep house and techno with him. Slices of Life artist and Deep In The Box series organizer Barbara Preisinger is also a welcome guest on the decks. On the Tresor Floor: Milton Baldwin aka DJ Skurge was noticed by UR’s Mike Banks and was invited to be in the foursome revival of Model 500 with Juan Atkins and a proper member of the UR family. DJ Skurge‘s stern dedication to the crafts has seen him take on the role of musical director in many projects, while he somehow found time to release some genre bending EPs of his own while recording with The Aquanauts as well. But for all the time spent being the self proclaimed “tall guy in the back, in the shadows” for these musical projects, DJ Skurge is still a DJ at heart. Affin/Detund artist and frequent Tresor Club guest Dinamite plus Tresor resident Mario Berger provide tight support for this highly-charged night!
