Tresor Invites Sonic Groove x Aufnahme Wiedergabe
Thu 10 August 2017 - 23:00

The history of Adam X dates back to 1990 in New York City, where he teamed up with his brother Frankie Bones in running the first all-techno record shop in America ‘Groove Records (later named ‘Sonic Groove Records’)’ with DJ Heather Heart joining ownership shortly after. Throughout the 90s and into the first half of the millennium, the Sonic Groove retail outlet was one of the top techno record retailers for DJs & vinyl collectors across the world. Now one of the longest techno labels running, Sonic Groove refuses to push the sounds of the past, instead preferring to define the sound of the future. Known in contemporary times globally for his pioneering working in crossing the parallel of techno and industrial music, Adam X is also behind the production of the well known deep sci-fi techno project “Traversable Wormhole” on CLR. Rhys Fulber is best known as a core member of Front Line Assembly, the pioneering Canadian EBM group, as well Delerium, a side project with Front Line founder Bill Leeb. Over the years, he’s racked up a wide array of production credits, working with everyone from Fear Factory to Dais Records group Youth Code, and most of his solo music has come out under the alias Conjure One. Realism, Fulber‘s debut under his own name on Sonic Groove, finds him mixing EBM and techno across four tracks. aufnahme + wiedergabe was established in 2011 by Philipp Strobel and Gabriel Brero in Berlin, Germany. Philipp Strobel is also co-founder of Endorcism and DEATH # DISCO, Berlin-based institutions in the modern era of industrial musc and EBM. [a + w] recently rose to notice in Berlin clubs on the strength of releases by artists like Phase Fatale, BLUSH_RESPONSE, Ancient Methods, SΛRIN, and others, but the label has a strong catalogue going back to 2011 that evidences Strobel‘s unflinching dedication to the continued pursuit of all things dark, hard and mysterious in modern music. The push out of the industrial niche towards techno dancefloors came at the time when many artists were exploring similar crossovers, but [a + w] has stayed true to its roots even as its roster continues to evolve. P·A·L is a German music project by Christian Pallentin that has released numerous recordings on Hymen Records and Stefan Alt’s Ant-Zen. P·A·L’s style varies from Rhythm ’n’ Noise to ambient.
