High school friends Jonathan Krohn and Karl Meier formed Talker in 2013, forged over a shared appreciation for post-punk and electronic music. Their first collaborative effort, “Cut The Weight (Pts. I & II)” for the “Halha” compilation on Downwards, led to another 12” and full-length for Karl O’Connor’s esteemed Downwards imprint, as well as a series of remixes for labels such as Eye Teeth and Horizontal Ground. Live performances followed, at the acclaimed Berlin Atonal festival, as well as London’s Fabric and New York’s The Bunker. Forming Standards & Practices label this year as a platform for their releases, Talker’s appearance tonight coincides with their first 3-track EP “Battle Standards”. Drawing on material created for their all-new live show, each track on the EP is a neat summation of the Talker aesthetic: elegant and brutal. Lead cut “Battle Standard” goes right for the jugular, incorporating howling blasts of noise layered with dense, syncopated drums. Spanish artist Irazu started his carrer in 2010 as resident DJ and promoter of the Lumen et Umbra events with Svreca. In 2014 he started a new nights in Madrid Called ‘’Erszebet’’, taking care of the art, the music and the new artists of the scene, featuring many high-profiled artists, and in 2016 Irazu released his two first EPs in Soul Notes Label. Italian artist Allesandro Gaja debuted in 2013 on Repitch, and records also on the Ophism Record label, focused on releasing rusty, live recorded analogue jams of underground acid techno, electro and lo fi synthesizer music. His releases on Ophism include “Nanook”, “Money Create Taste” and “Slaves Of The Future”. Melania Miszczyszyn is Melania ., whose techno set debuted at a Tresor new faces program last year. Since then she has been honing her skills all over Berlin and Europe, and we welcome her back to the decks. In Globus: Mike Parker lives and works in Buffalo, New York. When he is not twisting analogue frequencies in the studio he lectures fine art at Daemen College. Mr. Parker joined the Tresor Records family with the release of hi 4-track EP “Disintegrating Sand” last December. His abstractions of sound and texture are now instantly recognizable to contemporary audiences, as expressed on his long running series of 12” records on the Geophone and other top labels, that has established his sonic persona. Experimentation and sound research have always been key points of growth in music and art for Claudio PRC. His concept of techno, both as a DJ and producer, turns into deep sound layers that are intertwined into minimal rhythmic structures. Currently he is running The Gods Planet, an independent platform established since 2010 with fellow Italian DJ/producer Ness. Also debuting on our new faces night last January, Spanish DJ Antonio Vázquez is a producer and remixer based in Berlin, Germany. His dark, industrial tendencies reveal sets that are deeply hypnotic, and he often enters ambient regions in his podcasts.
