The history of Adam X dates back to 1990 in New York City, where he teamed up with his brother Frankie Bones in running the first all-techno record shop in America ‘Groove Records (later named ‘Sonic Groove Records’)’ with DJ Heather Heart joining ownership shortly after. Throughout the 90s and into the first half of the millennium, the Sonic Groove retail outlet was one of the top techno record retailers for DJs & vinyl collectors across the world. Now one of the longest techno labels running, Sonic Groove refuses to push the sounds of the past, instead preferring to define the sound of the future. Known in contemporary times globally for his pioneering working in crossing the parallel of techno and industrial music, Adam X is also behind the production of the well known deep sci-fi techno project “Traversable Wormhole” on CLR. Playing an extended B2B set with Adam is Ron Morelli, a producer currently running the L.I.E.S. (Long Island Electrical Systems) record label out of Brooklyn, NY. His appearance at 2016’s Atonal Festival is still fresh in our memory, and Ron’s track last February 2018 on the “Waves Of The Future” compilation, on Alessandro Adriani’s Mannequin label, is an excellent taster of this talented artist. Paàl, also known as one of the founders of the label Voitax, debuted last year on our new faces night. He is an artist that devotes all of his passion to the sounds that he creates and the music that he supports. The focus in Paàl’s creations, such as in his very heavy and varied sets as well as on his label, is always on the sound, on the art piece itself and less on the artist behind it. Returning to the Globus Floor, Brooklyn-based artist Maya Bouldry-Morrison aka Octo Octa has been releasing mainly house music since 2011 when her debut EP Let Me See You lasso’d a mighty wave of international house-heads to the dance-floor and helped push underground house label 100% Silk onto everyone’s radar. Octo Octa’s finely-tuned marriage of exquisite compositional flare, meticulously-sculpted sonics, and primal dance-floor functionality earned her a Red Bull Music Academy residency in Manhattan, which found the producer working closely with Harald Bjork and Throwing Snow, as well as tours across the world that has included coveted gigs in top European venues. For over a decade now, first in Paris, then Montreal and now in Berlin, La Fraicheur has been brewing her own blend of Deep House & Techno beats, making a name for herself with her signature sound of emotionally charged and acid Techno sets. Expanding her craft by producing her own music ranging from ravy epic Tech-House to dark pumping Electro, spacious open air Deep House to melancholic Electronica, La Fraicheur spent the summer of 2017 doing an artist residency in Detroit with Underground Resistance, working on her first solo Techno album. And it’s always a pleasure to welcome frequent guest DJ Sarah Miles, co-founder & chief, DJ & live host at Berlin Community Radio, who plays in numerous Berlin underground locations and whose sets surprise and delight with their spectrum of sophistication in dance club mixing.
