Dave Tarrida tends to literally burn up the dance floor. A producer born in Edinburgh, Scotland, founding member of Sativa club in his own town, Tarrida co-runs Sativae Recordings with Steve Glencross, seeing influential releases from close friends like Cristain Vogel and Neil Landstrumm, as well as artists such as DJ Hell and Jay Denham. Dave has provided our label with some exceptionally dynamic techno releases, unforgettable musical footprints from one of Europe’s best techno mavericks. Based in Spain until 2010, Dave Tarrida now resides in Vienna when not touring the world, playing at the most famous festivals and venues on the planet. Founder of Rave or Die and of the New Flesh Records imprint, Umwelt boasts over forty releases to date, which place him among the most prolific French electronic producers. In 2016, after a long spell off the radar, this expert in ferocious distortions tinted with sweet melancholy delivered his second album, entitled Days of Dissent and released on Boidae. The opus was highly acclaimed by the public and the press, which proclaimed it an electro referent. The Lyon-based artist, a vinyl and analogue freak, Umwelt continues the work of early pioneers with a wild and straight-to-the-dancefloor mode of transport, while progressively leading the listener into dark, melancholic, dancing and mental atmospheres where he alone has total control over the side effects. After spending his youth in Gran Canaria, southern Spain, Artik sank himself into the cold industrial atmosphere of Berlin. Unsettling ambience and hammering percussion break up the rhythms that define Artik as an artist. Sound engineer and lover of the most purist electronic music, he has been a frequent guest on the Tresor decks, with his uncompromising sound, and his music was also recently released on Monolith Records in Berlin. Returning artist Janzon Runge aka Janzon is influenced by IDM, Techno, Leftfield and other genres from which he developed his very unique sound. Janzon released his first solo EP “The Primal Scream”, followed up by “Twisted Dust” in 2015, both on Moerbeck’s Code Is Law label. Since 2014 Janzon is resident at Stuttgart’s “Lehmann”, the home of one of the most innovative Techno nights in Germany. In Globus: Terrence Dixon, also known under the Population One moniker, describes his techno as “Forward-thinking ghetto electronics” and is widely recognised for his incongruous, minimalist sound design, authenticity, and dedication. A prolific producer, his 30-year studio career has seen releases on Metroplex, Tresor and Rush Hour to name but a few. Dixon‘s sound safeguards Detroit techno so that it will remain relevant in the years to come and his tracks have been some of the most exhilarating of the 21st century. Terrence Dixon is a champion of the Detroit sound, who is firmly rooted in the city’s grand tradition, but also propels things forward in unexpected ways. Terrence launched the Cybtotron Live tour in 2018 with partner Kat in London, with shows in London, Primavera and Dekmantel. We welcome his fantastic live set in Globus tonight. Returning artist Luke Hess remains a shining star out of Detroit. He has celebrated EPs out on Omar S’ FXHE, Carl Craig’s Planet-e, Echocord and many more. His Detroit label DeepLabs has been the center for his own deeply personal projects. With over 15 years of DJ experience and many notable live sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage. Hess is known to layer his sets in a very detailed, hypnotic, & soulful manner. It’s always a pleasure to welcome frequent guest DJ Sarah Miles, co-founder & chief, DJ & live host at Berlin Community Radio, who plays in numerous Berlin underground locations and whose sets surprise and delight with their spectrum of sophistication in dance club mixing.
