Todd Sines‘ experimental yet melodic techno and stripped-down house music caught the ear of Carl Craig and Daniel Bell, who helped him release records on the Planet E, 7th City and Peacefrog labels in the mid ’90s. Over the last two decades he’s worked with and remixed Yoko Ono, Alexander Robotnick, Robert Owens, Paul Randolph, and Sal Principato of Liquid Liquid, while his globetrotting live performances and DJ gigs have been featured in the most famous art spaces, festivals and clubs the world over. From the flat fields of Ohio to the concrete jungle of New York, Todd Sines‘ environments, real and virtual, have served as inspiration for his unique, hybrid sound. His post punk, industrial, and hip-hop upbringings, filtered through an obsession with analogue and early digital technology, resulted in stripped down electronic funk: before minimal was mnml it was just effective. Eric Cloutier is co-owner of Berlin and Bristol-based label Tanstaafl (together with John Osborn). If you appreciate house and techno music with depth and sophistication played with tight technical skill and genuine feeling, Eric Cloutier should be on your radar. Now making music as considered and carefully crafted as his DJ sets, Eric Cloutier has long been an influential underground selector. It is for that reason he has held down residencies at esteemed clubs in both Detroit and Berlin, as well as appearances in top international clubs and festivals. Kansas native Brian Mitchell aka Tallmen785 is somewhat of a chameleon: after playing guitar with none other than the legendary Ornette Colman in New York, Tallmen785 moved to Berlin and sharpened his techno aspirations. His 20 plus years of musical training ripple through his current techno productions, which is why his sound can seem somewhat alien yet hypnotic in its reach. Johanna Knutsson caught the music bug in 2008, she promptly moved to Berlin from her native Sweden, signed to independent Berlin-based label, Klasse Recordings. A passion for 80s disco, house, hi hats and handclaps inspired 2 dance floor killing edits of Imagination’s “So Good So Right” and thumbs up from fans. In the Tresor basement: Joel Mull is a techno DJ and producer from Sweden who has released on labels such as Drumcode, Truesoul, Audiomatique, Saved, Cocoon, Kanzleramt and Music Man, and is a master of making music with an ability to balance sounds from across the spectrum with heavy-duty rhythms, chords, and melody. Joel Mull is a dynamic and interactive DJ who blends rolling basslines, harmonic synths, and energetic percussion to craft an infectious and atmospheric sound. Spanish DJ and producer Annie Hall has been steadily carving a name for herself as an artist who enjoys diversity. Producing since 2005, she has released on labels such as Blank Code, Flash Recordings, Semantica Records, Minnuendo, D1 Recordings and Detroit Underground Recordings. With an eclectic taste in music, Annie creates music across the electronic spectrum, from tracks that are experimental taking the listener on a more complex journey, to tracks that take you straight to the dance floor. Her tracks have a feeling of intensity with dark brooding twists while being intertwined with melodies that give them warmth and keep you firmly on the dance floor. Both of these excellent guests are given choice support by our outstanding resident DJ HGR.
