Scan 7 is a mysterious techno collective in Detroit consisting of seven artists. The group always wears masks when performing. Originally born in the late 80′s, Scan 7′s first release, “Voices Beyond”, came out on the Submerge compilation, “Escape Into The Void”. All Scan 7 releases are laced with a deep dark dose of classic Detroit style techno, embedded within the imprints of the tradement Scan 7 drums. Synonymous with Detroit, Techno, and Tresor, Scan 7 have remained protagonists of the Berlin-Detroit axis since it was first forged in the sweaty obsidian of the club’s original Wertheim vault home. In 1996 the collective released the explosive “Dark Territory” album (Tresor.057) and over 20 years later, the masked techno collective returned to our label with ‘The Resistance EP’. We welcome these techno chameleons Scan 7 during our 28th birthday month. we welcome back Italians Salvatore Iannotta & Giuseppe Salone aka Subradeon: after sponsoring various events in their home country, they moved to Berlin in 2013. February 2016 marked their official debut with the release of their first digital release, “South Connection” on Detroit’s Motech Records. The result is Subradeon’s sound that recalls Detroit Techno, but at the same time also emphasizes the new European sounds. One thing is clear, from the first listen one can appreciate their innovative ability, their creativity in mixing their styles, honouring the pure techno sound with the soul of Motown combined with elements that range from hip hop to jazz, from funk to soul.
