Benjamin Damage’s roots lie firmly within the UK’s underground. Drawing from early rave to jungle to nineties house, Benjamin’s non-purist approach to techno produces an energy and emotion rarely found in modern electronic music. After the acclaimed album ’They!Live” with Modeslektor, Damage relocated to Berlin and released his stunning debut solo album ‘Heliosphere’ in 2013. Abandoning the stage laptop, Damage delivers a truly live electronic techno performance, taking elements of his original tracks and recreating them in a new form for every show, and we are very excited to experience this tonight. We welcome back on our decks Ron Albrecht who began his musical career in the early 90s. Between 1997 and 2002 Ron Albrecht additionally worked as a producer together with his associate Thomas Kuffner, releasing several records under the labels Sind Records and ElektronikParlament. He also worked as co-operator of the Easytraxx record stores in Schwerin from 1995 to 2006. His name is still closely connected to the old-established Gerberei Club in Schwerin, as the co-founder, organizer and resident from 1994 until its closing in 2013. Kike Pravda got his first residency as a DJ in the old Club Pravda of his hometown in Spain. His good work behind the mixer attracted people from other cities, thanks to his exquisite selection of music. In 2009 Warm Up Recordings released “Fear is the Enemy”, which included an Oscar Mulero remix. Pravda has since then established his own label Senoid Recordings. Tasha first made her name as a DJ in the drum & bass community, with her mixes being aired by DJ Flight on BBC 1 and her shows on Rinse FM. Tasha’s DJing style matches this textured background of her influences and has developed into a master-flow of form – weaving tunes together seamlessly from her bass informed home of the UK alongside four-four techno forms born in Berlin and Detroit. With an accomplished and atmospheric hold on the dancefloor, Tasha’s sound is wholly affecting and has taken her to some of the best festivals and clubs in key cities around the world.
On the Globus Floor: Alexandre Gouyette is Brawther, born in Paris, now living in Lisbon and raised on house – that’s just about all Brawther wants to tell you. You’ll have to glean anything else you need to know from his music. He is known for making warm, classic-sounding deep house that nods to his US heroes and in 2018 founded his own label Negentropy. And tonight Brawther will debut his world premier live set on the Globus Floor so don’t miss this! So far his output has been only selectively released into the wider world, but on esteemed labels like Cabinet Records, secretsundaze and My Love Is Underground. It varies from pad-laced daydreams to tough edged 4/4 beats, always displaying such true school ideals that it wasn’t long before he became a close friend and protégé of US pioneer Chez Damier. Audio Werner: from DJing and collecting vinyl since the 90s to becoming one of the most inimitable music producers, Andreas “Audio” Werner has created many as unique as timeless records whilst never losing a sense of his own influences and delicate approach to the production of electronic dance music. Cinthie is a Berlin-based DJ and producer, and the creative mind behind the Beste Modus and Unison Wax record labels. Linked by a shared penchant for good house music and a love of Berlin’s unending parties, the crew have already pressed four eagerly-sought-after white label 12″s together. If that wasn’t enough, Cinthie also owns and runs the ‘Stasi Studios’ complex, so-called because the building once functioned as a Stasi office! Berlin-based Cab Drivers are DJ Zky & Daniel P, Cabinet Records founders, both producing dance music since 1992 and frequent guests in our club. In 1994 they founded Cabinet Records and with that, they became among the first to forge a new esthetic in house music, made of chasing, advanced 909 programming, clean, minimalistic sound design and subtle lines of funk and Latin melodies. Tonight they have invited several distinguised guests to salute 25 years of their maverick label – in our home on the Globus Floor! Cab Drivers have released numerous vinyl 12-inches and many other classic cuts under the names of Compass, Horseshoe, Warten Borgmann & The Poor Knight. Recent releases include collaborations with Brawther, Subb-an, and Chez Damier. In 2006 Richie Hawtin picked the cream of the Cabinet`s repertoire, collecting it into a 2 x 12” and CD compilation released on Plus 8, which has become an essential must-have. Later more tracks from Cab Drivers got pressed on DAP, Seasons Limited 1, Sonar Kollektiv, Pokerflat, Highgrade and Sharivari Records. Now 25 years after their first release, Cabinet Records continues to put out quality music with incredible consistency and we are proud to celebrate with the founders.
