In 2006 Amir Alexander created Vanguard Sound! Around late 2008/early 2009 he began recruiting a few close peers: G. Marcell, Hakim Murphy, Dakini9, and DJ Spider. He also invited long time best friend Chris Mitchell to join him in running the label since Chris was with Amir one night back in 1998 when the original idea/concept of Vanguard Sound! first materialized. For the first few years VS operated more like a blog, and/or a mix hosting/dance music history website, but in 2011 VS officially became a label. In the almost 5 years since its inception, Vanguard Sound! has put out several landmark records from the label owners as well as a few compilations and a debut by Guerrilla Soul which is a highly slept-on Deep House Alias project by Amir. These two Chicago mavericks will be supported by our gifted resident Magda El Bayoumi. In the basement: Paul Birken is a legendary techno and acid DJ from Minneapolis, USA, producer and live machine manipulator du jour. 25 years rocking techno floors and regardless of a plethora of outstanding releases he still shows his relevancy within the genre for example in the recent terrific Chip Tronic “Thor” remix. Tonight you can catch his monster live act on the Tresor Floor. Giorgio Gigli‘s deep exploration of several kinds of electronic dance music, in a broad evolutionary path, has found his music assuming an intense and personal form of communication. He is somewhat of a sound scientist, with a love for ambient soundscapes, layering and musical transformations. This reflects in Giorgio Gigli‘s harder sets as well, where rhythm increases tension while it is moving forward unchallenged through industrial echoes, robotic tricks and building grooves that produce shaped variations of his meaning. Italian-born and Berlin-based Madalba formed collaboration in 2011 with the crew Femme Fraktale, and more recently has cemented her inspiration for Detroit in May 2013, beginning a working collusion with the Detroit-based crew Detroit Techno Militia. In 2014 Madalba started her own project Arkita Rec, the Berlin-based label she runes together with Synkopheit. DE vs. Troit is a B2B project founded in 2014 in Berlin. These two guys were born in Italy, they started the beginning of their adventure in the capital of Germany, producing their first tracks, with their own musical concept, true Detroit-Berlin Techno, releasing EPs on various labels Lost Demo, Dunsciat, Vizion Division and Serial Number 849 Records.
