London-based Steve Bicknell was resident DJ at the famous Energy raves, participating in many of the defining events in UK club culture’s history. Steve and Sheree Rashit (who together formed the reknowned Cosmic Records, featuring a roster of international visionaries) run the now legendary LOST events which influenced a whole generation of British electronic musicians. Forward-thinking and rigorously uncompromising, Steve Bicknell has remained connected to the roots, putting quality before quantity, innovation before imitation, and sticking firm to ideals and principles – an unswerving, singular vision guided by a deep and enduring devotion to the music that inspires him and a desire to present it in the purest way possible. Joining him with a wicked live set is Simon Coup aka Birth Of Frequency, a Paris-based artist from Zadig’s Construct Re-Form group, who fans remember from former label nights. With sets that border on driving-to-frantic rhythms or tantalizing hugeness, this rather secretive artist is perfect for the basement techno station. Two of our best techno residents Marcelus and Mareena provide precision support. In Globus: Niels Luinenburg aka Delta Funktionen‘s tracks on Field 02 and 04 are delicious techno works of intricate, moody forces. Also a resident at Amsterdam’s LET – les enfants terribles – Delta Funktionen is content to go about his business quietly, and the Dutchman now spins a genre-defiant blend of Detroit techno, Chicago-licked house, crafty old school electro and sparkling Italo disco at clubs around the globe. From Romania and now residing in Berlin, Borusiade aka Miruna Boruzescu started DJing in 2002 as one of the only female DJs in the city’s emerging alternative clubbing scene. Her DJ sets combine bold and obscure sounds and genres fluctuating mostly in the field of dark disco, industrial and tropical weirdness, some house with an acid touch. Borusiade’s sound is gloomy and powerful, with beats that touch one’s deepest senses on the dance floor. Berlin tends to keep its best kept DJ secrets, and Mo Probs is contained in this catagory in spite of making herself quite present all over the capital and the country as well. After slaying Source Material parties and closely connecting with PAN, Berlin Community Radio and White Material, she can kick it fiercely with an infusion of acid, new beat, post-pun-dub and other sonic dancefloor infectious grooves. Tonight she appears together with DJ Sarah Miles, co-founder & chief, DJ & live host at Berlin Community Radio, who plays in numerous Berlin underground locations and whose sets surprise and delight with their spectrum of sophistication in dance club mixing.
