Tonight Maayan Nidam presents the next Hellium night in Globus. The focus for both label and night is on deep and hypnotic rhythms, celebrating an otherwise discreet and inconspicuous side of underground techno. Maayan invites innovative guests to share the decks with her all night, getting personal and expose hidden artistic dimensions. Maayan Nidam, an artist in flux, continues to change, evolve and challenge boundaries both in her Berlin studio and on stage. She has built a reputation as a fine DJ and producer who favours a subtle approach towards mesmeric moments. Maayan’s DJ sets, predominantly based in stripped-back, deep sounds, utilise an intriguing vinyl collection, using obscure interludes for re-contextualisation. With a flexibly evolving range of hardware, Maayan Nidam re-creates the spontaneous frame of her productions, delving deep into the possibilities of live dubbing and improvisation, keeping the performance exciting for both the crowd and Maayan herself. Peter Sliwinski aka Echoplex is a mainstay of techno circles worldwide for over 20 years, Echoplex has developed a reputation as one of electronic music’s most unique artists across a variety of styles and aliases. With a discography stretching into triple digits across labels like Synewave, ARTS, Soma and Soleil, Echoplex has toured throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, rocking festival crowds and headlining massive club-nights with grooves that honour techno’s legacy while looking to its future. Moving through Canada and Italy, he returned to Poland in 1998, met Damon Wild, and joined Synewave Records. Released singles, remixes under Echoplex, and formed a project with Damon Wild – Niteworks. In the meantime, he started Soleil Records in the early 2000s and took on worldwide tours. Recently returning with 2017’s “This Is My Techno Melody and ”The Solar Experience album, Echoplex fused 90s-style rave sensibilities with a precision only possible through modern production techniques. Jamaica Suk emerges from somewhere in between light and darkness, forging a new vision of techno duality, hammering out deep stormy rhythms that reinforce a gentle story of polyphonies. The California-born and now Berlin-based artist fuses her musical roots in jazz and rock; Jamaica Suk synthesizes these elements effortlessly, bending the limits of the “techno-wheel”. Percussive funk with hard dark rhythm, drive the music identity visible in our nature – day revealing the night, the night making way for the day. Lush and deep samples, hints of melancholic bass guitar, distorted melodies splashing the pulse and layers of a booming production.
** We regret to inform that Exos is unfortunately unable to play tonight. Replacing him will be acclaimed Polish artist Echoplex, returning to our decks after his last appearance in 2016.
