Tonight Maayan Nidam presents the next installment of her Hellium nights in Globus. The focus for both label and night is on deep and hypnotic rhythms, celebrating an otherwise discreet and inconspicuous side of underground techno. Maayan invites innovative guests to share the decks with her all night, getting personal and expose hidden artistic dimensions. Maayan Nidam, an artist in flux, continues to change, evolve and challenge boundaries both in her Berlin studio and on stage. She has built a reputation as a fine DJ and producer who favours a subtle approach towards mesmeric moments. Maayan’s DJ sets, predominantly based in stripped-back, deep sounds, utilise an intriguing vinyl collection, using obscure interludes for re-contextualisation. With a flexibly evolving range of hardware, Maayan Nidam re-creates the spontaneous frame of her productions, delving deep into the possibilities of live dubbing and improvisation, keeping the performance exciting for both the crowd and Maayan herself. Tonight’s guest: taking cues from 90s era leftfield electronics, warehouse techno, the pioneers of early lab recordings and minimal film scores, Cosmin TRG has created his own brand of modern, textural sonics in a contemporary context. His flair for abstract, low-end drum section methodology and a natural propensity for sculpting arresting soundscapes out of contrasting aural signifiers have earned him a solid reputation with audiences, peers and critics worldwide. Touring internationally, Cosmin TRG’s relentlessly hypnotic and seductive approach of the House and Techno canon has landed him regular slots on platforms like Boiler Room and podcasts for Resident Advisor, XLR8R, Fact Mag or CLR among others. These two inspired artists will be playing together all night long on the Globus Floor.
