Tresor Meets Restoration
Sat 29 October 2016 - 23:59

Marieu and Lucretio are Xenogears, the founding members of the Restoration assault unit, one of the last independent underground labels on the planet. Sometimes performing under their moniker The Analogue Cops, their message is pure analogue Techno that comes from Chicago House music, from Larry Levan´s disco, from George Clinton´s funk, from Miles Davis´s jazz; in a few words, uptempo danceable R&B music, pledged in a more dub and deep house-oriented project, but always deeply influenced by their passion for American music. Tonight celebrates Xenogears‘ newest Restoration release “Auction Hunters”. Mark Flash is a Detroit-based DJ affiliated with the legendary Underground Resistance camp. Merging house, techno and funk, Mark Flash is one of the few DJ/producers who can legitimately play an instrument and read music—he’s not looking to bore you with psuedo-intellectualism. He wants to make you move. He defines his production style as “loud and funky.” It’s been a few years since echno maverick Justin Berkovi has graced our decks. He has played alongside the biggest names in the genre such as Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath and many more. He’s spent the last few years releasing a handful of albums, countless 12″ EPs and remixes and in 2012 returned to production and his infamous live shows. One of the top artists on the prestigious label Trapez, Justin remains as relevant as ever, straddling the dark brooding purposeful world of techno alongside the mesmeric beauty of his deeper, more introspective tracks. Gaja is returning Italian artist who founded his record label Ophism in 2015 with the release of “Modern Passivity”: the label is focused on releasing rusty, analogue jams of underground acid techno/electro and lo fi synthesizer music. We welcome him back after his successful New Faces gig last May.  On the Globus Floor: Johannes Volk is a producer, DJ and also label owner of Exploration Records, and whose sets combine an open minded, raw and hypnotic techno sound. His first record was released on none other than Jeff Mills’s Axis Records in 2006, followed by a series of vinyl releases on other labels including Patrice Scott’s Sistrum and Steffi’s Dolly imprint. As a DJ, Johannes’s depth of knowledge and ear for a groove is rivaled by few. Shigeru Tanabu is a Sapporo-based Japanese producer and DJ, and also the manager at Undertone Recordings.  While in NYC, Shigeru started playing guitar in Brendon Moeller’s ‘Beat Pharmacy’ project and subsequently released several tracks on APT. International and Francois K’s Wave Music. Currently, he’s working on several new projects: dubstep-based tracks under his Solid State Soul alias, unique jazzy tech dub disco with Brendon Moeller as Manaboo, and also AZZXSSS with hip-hop producer Azzuro. American techno artist Jay Ahern launched his label, Modular Cowboy in 2012, as both a record label and as an outlet for multimedia projects. In addition to being a former Hard Wax employee, Ahern is the man behind Cheap And Deep Productions, Add Noise and the Hauntologists (a project with Stefan Schneider of To Rococo Rot). We’re excited to host the premiere performance of this new collaborative live project that Shigeru Tanabu & Jay Ahern began in Sapporo, Japan. Benoit Legrain is Fareed from Paris, whose terrific Pausis EP was released on Contruct Re-Form. After touring with the label’s 5 year celebration parties around Europe last spring, we welcome him to our decks.
