Tresor meets Semantica
Fri 24 May 2019 - 23:59

American Techno and Acid Icon DJ ESP aka Woody McBride is in the mix. With releases and remixes on Dave Clarke’s White Noise, Josh Wink’s Ovum, Eric Powell’s Bush, Fat Boy Slim’s Skint, Novamute, Acid Tracks, Drop Bass Network and dozens of other labels there are just a handful of stateside producer/DJs so prolific. His own label Communique is now 15 years old and continues to promote the underground sound and push it into the future. Woody McBride plays weekly on several international radio stations and works tirelessly to create new music for the galactic consciousness. Angelika Lepper aka DJ ACID MARIA has pursued danceable-experimental electronic sounds since the 1990s, playing at her long-term residency at Munich’s Ultraschall club as well as international clubs, festivals and cultural events. With an open eye and ear for subcultures and their aesthetic concepts as well as intriguing overlaps with other media arts, their codes and modes of expression, she is also co-founder of the female:pressure platform. Also a writer, artist and lecturer, we are very pleased to welcome Acid Maria to our decks. Tresor Club resident Handmade‘s DJing is perfectly tuned to the Globus Floor’s wavelength: oscillating between house and techno styles, the dancing crowd in a firm grip, driven to fill the dancefloor. An integral part of the Tresor resident team since 2009, Handmade earned his stripes in the rocky terrain of the Berlin nightlife. Little by little he developed his pumping original mix of superior and timeless dance styles that have particularly influenced his experience. Handmade’s explosive trademark DJ style: deep and dubby-grounded á la Detroit, with the jacking stabs of Chicago influences and occasional deviations into tougher or soulful soundscapes. Semantica is a Techno/IDM label owned by frequent Tresor Club guest Svreca, founded in 2006. With a roster that is a virtual treasure chest of artists on the label, it has quickly become a distinguished label internationally, and showcased a night in our home last October. Svreca is known for his sophisticated Electro cuts, more than just occasionally crossing the borders towards Ambient and IDM, and his label has already celebrated a series of ten releases to mark the its 10th anniversary. Claudio Porceddu aka Claudio PRC, a dark & trippy techno connoisseur in the mold of his Italian peer Donato Dozzy, has more recently burst onto the scene with his grayscale and hi-tech work. The Berlin-based artist is a deep techno specialist who takes cues from avant-garde and ambient music as well as the abyssal echoes of early hypnotic acid and dub. Claudio PRC has been active as a DJ and producer since 2006 and released his records mainly on Prologue Music and Semantica Records. Co-founder of The Gods Planet label, since 2018 he’s resident DJ in one of Prague’s most valued clubs, Ankali, where he curates the Volumi Dinamici night. Returning outfit Artefakt is a collaboration between Dutch producers Robin Koek and Nick Lapien that share a love for melancholic, hypnotic voodoo music. Artefakt found a home for their sound at Field Records and released material on the München-based Prologue label. Joining their perspectives in a meticulous, hands-on working method, the two bring a balanced and hypnotizing sound to the club. Be it in the form of a DJ set or their full-fledged hardware live set crystallizing in the mind and oscillating the body. What sets Artefakt apart is combination of musical material, atmosphere and groove, captivating your spirit, whether you are listening quietly on headphones, or you hear the music pounding from a 10 foot tall PA at a rave. Geoff Wright is Korse aka Presha, a veteran DJ, record store owner and distributor from New Zealand, whose Samurai label has taken the sort of risks that once seemed de rigueur in the scene. His sublabel, Horo, features beatless, off-kilter music on limited vinyl. After establishing himself as one of New Zealand’s most innovative forces in the genre, Presha moved to Berlin in 2011 and has been performing in the German capital and internationally since then.
