Sonic Groove is an electronic music label founded by Frankie Bones, Adam X, and Heather Heart. The history of Adam X dates back to 1990 in New York City, where he teamed up with his brother Frankie Bones in running the first all-techno record shop in America ‘Groove Records (later named ‘Sonic Groove Records’)’ with DJ Heather Heart joining ownership shortly after. Throughout the 90s and into the first half of the millennium, the Sonic Groove retail outlet was one of the top techno record retailers for DJs & vinyl collectors across the world. One of the most highly respected acts in both techno and industrial circles, Orphx have been developing their signature fusion of hypnotic rhythms and experimental noise for the past twenty years. Using modular and analog synthesizers, software, location recordings and feedback circuits, Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey draw upon the darker, psychedelic fringes of electronic dance music and combine these elements with the experimental aesthetics and themes of early industrial music. Ancient Methods was originally an industrial/techno duo of Conrad Protzmann & Michael Wollenhaupt aka Baeks & Trias: now it’s Trias’ one man project with since Baeks’ departure. Both originally intregal DJs in the former legendary Tresor Headquarters team, today Ancient Methods takes this genre and drives you into its vortex right on the dancefloor. In Globus: Fluxion is a project by Konstantinos Soublis from Greece, who has been releasing his productions since 1998. Fluxion‘s output had been referred to as a cornerstone in the techno/dub/ambient genres. His approach of liquid live-organic productions, incorporating techno, dub, ambient, sound design, has formed a signature sound that is point of reference for many producers. His textural environment shifts and harmonic blends, alongside strong rhythmical bursts, create an intelligent motion-picture landscape. Danish outfit Northern Structures aka Lasse Buhl & Troels B-Knudsen man the decks as well, whose latest Sonic Groove release “Articulation Pressure” shows a highly modern and spatially inspired techno. Kenneth Christiansen has been Djing all over Europe the last decade, playing in top clubs in most capitals. The Danish artist runs the labels Echocord and Echocord Colour, and the Pattern Repeat project with Resoe, as well as booker/co-owner/manager of the club Culture Box in Copenhagen. Refracted has released some of his dub-techno on lables such as Connwax and Silent Season. Deep rhythms and atmospheric elements have always played a major role in Refracted‘s music. Be it through hypnotic grooves or mesmerising soundscapes, the journey is always assured.
