Tanzmichmal is a Berlin based club night and a delightful podcast series. Founded by Ron Wilson, it puts its focus on the good side of dance music, be it disco, dub, house or techno. From Kreuzberg to Chicago over Detroit and back, the team has been presenting uplifting club nights for seven years and now it’s time to celebrate this core. Deep and rich diversity is Ron Wilson’s motto, as you can well experience tonight. Sweden’s The Persuader you may know as Jesper Dahlbäck, a tech house and techno DJ/producer who emerged at the same time as Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch as part of the early Swedish techno scene. An innovator since the 1990s, he has always been on the quest for new and unheard sounds, “bending the rules and testing the unknown” – in his own words. One of the most exciting producers of electronica in the world, Jesper is now also running his new label called International Sound Laboratory or just ISL, and will provide our guests with a spellbinding live set under his Persuader moniker tonight. In addition to Ron Wilson’s expected set, frequent Tanzmichmal guest Nikoslav Nachhall will share a set with Menqui aka Nasrasur, with support from Berlin Leaves artist Elizabeth. On the Tresor Floor, American artist Fred Peterkin has many aliases, among them Black Jazz Consortium or Anomaly, and anyone who has followed the development of American house music in the last decade certainly knows his names. His musical set phrase isn’t new or special as he is often simply melting shuffling percussion with elementary melodies, but he does it in a sense that the heavily used and abused phrase “deepness” finally gets a fresh truthfully new meaning. A tirelessly motivated producer of elegant house music, his international engagements have brought him appropriately respected praise. Mario Castillo is Kastil from Spain, a producer and DJ currently running Soul Notes and Soul Notes White record labels. Whether composing, remixing or producing, he strives for quality in his work, and a solid, cohesive set at his club gigs. Jose Cabrera aka J.C. from Spain, debuting in Tresor on one of the Echoes nights, expresses a style of simple, raw, stripped down and hypnotic techno is honed for the basement sensibilities – just a reflection of his influences. In 2012, he started the AHD label together with his friend Damian Schwartz, releasing records of the likes of Fred P, DJ F, Marcos Cabral and Epiphany. In November 2013, J.C.‘s “Endurance” EP on Deeply Rooted garnered great feedback among the techno community, leading him to do a VA on Tresor together with Zadig and Acronym.
