Misantropen LP: “Gritty acidic/tribalistic definitions of black metal music on this new side project of Abdulla Rashims ARR records. Isolated in the coldest parts of northern Sweden, the music is the outcome of a loners mind. Trying to interpret ancient life by machine experiments live recorded in single takes. No overdubs or editing are made. Limited supplies”. Based in Stockholm, Northern Electronics taps into the colder, more menacing elements of contemporary European techno music, often working in tandem with Copenhagen-based label Posh Isolation and co-creating Body Sculptures, a Scandinavian noise supergroup made up of Varg, Posh Isolation’s Loke Rahbek, Swedish composer Erik Enocksson, industrial artists Puce Mary and Ossian Ohlsson of Vit Fan. Since launching in 2013 with the Misantropen LP, Northern Electronics has become a guiding force – often drawing the listener in under the guise of techno, and then challenging them with a heady and melancholic mix of industrial, noise, ambience and sound design. DJ Mantis from Berlin takes his sound to the limits of the techno spectrum, a soundcloud listen reveals his heady, industrial sets breaking and searing, rushing and even entering fierce breakbeat country at times. The Herrensauna residents will provide back-to-back sets of brilliant techno to fill out the night with the thrill you came looking for.
