A DJ, writer, and event organizer, Lychee runs Spontaneous Affinity, a monthly mix and interview series and occasional event platform focused on how dance-floors have shaped artists. With sets mostly focusing on the hypnotic and trippy side of techno, they are also a monthly resident at Distrikt 1 at Bossa Nova Civic Club in Brooklyn, exploring the harder edges of the genre. Since starting to play out in 2012, they have played alongside artists like Takaaki Itoh, Objekt, Rrose, Legowelt, Claude Young, and Honey Soundsystem. In addition to playing out, Lychee has organized DJ/producer skillshare events, taught DJ workshops, and curated a speaker event about inclusivity in music technology. Waterford native Cailín is one of the fastest growing artists in Irish techno and has earned herself a name among the most established DJs in the country. A long time resident for one of the most consistent collectives in Ireland, Subject, and clubs District 8 & Index, there is no denying Cailín’s talent as a DJ. Having supported or shared line-ups with some of the biggest names in techno, in some of the country’s biggest clubs and at major festivals as well as headlining gigs around the country, there isn’t a scenario that Cailín hasn’t encountered while in command of the dance floor. 2018 saw her get some well deserved recognition outside of these shores with appearances in Paris, London, Berlin & New York. Couple that with her dedication to the Art of DJing and vinyl collecting, and a somewhat underrated penchant for production which earned her a spot on Jheri Tracks and Wherethetimesgoes in the past, it’s clear that Cailín is in a league of her own. Both of these artists are welcomed and hosted by our skilled resident Mareena: her influences range far and wide, including anything from Detroit and Chicago acid to the more hypnotic take on dub, ambient, and techno. Throughout the years Mareena has performed extensively both locally and internationally, accomplishing the rare feat of earning a reputation solely as a DJ and curator.
