Tresor x ЯETURN
Sat 14 December 2019 - 23:59

Berlin’s Яeturn is a semi-regular club night organised by the Solid AM booking agency, and has over the years cracked the international circuit – we welcome Яeturn to our home tonight. Chilean-born Ricardo Villalobos is an electronic music producer and DJ. He is well-known for his work in the minimal techno and microhouse genres. Villalobos began to play his music at parties while he was studying at university, but this was only for his own enjoyment. He started a label, Placid Flavour, in 1993 but this was unsuccessful. His first record was released on the German Playhouse label in 1994 and Ricardo began DJing as a professional in 1998, and is in present times regarded as one of the most important minimal DJs in Europe, alongside other talented Chilean DJs and producers such as Luciano Nicolet (an occasional collaborator) and Dandy Jack. Fumiya Tanaka stands as one of Japan’s longest and best-known techno activists. Through his long career over 20 years as a DJ and a track maker, Fumiya Tanaka has been the most prolific artist on the front line of the Japanese Techno scene. His signature DJ style unfolds in simultaneous response between the sound with a solid groove and the dance floor is extraordinary. His productions on his own Torema label are legendary, not to mention being a member of the Tresor Records family. For over 15 years Dorian Paic has been running Raum…Musik together with Olaf Zern. A passionate lover of vinyl, Dorian has been DJing for over 25 years and revels in the unique warmth and analogue sound of black wax. Now Berlin-based, Dorian still retains close ties to his home city of Frankfurt. A respected DJ and much-loved behind the scenes figure, Paic has done it all. He’s best known for his long-standing association with Frankfurt institutions such as Cocoon, Robert Johnson and the now-closed Freebase Records, where he worked for close to a decade. Playing in bands for many years, and having spent the best part of a decade as an engineer in landmark London studios, Digby is known as a deft practitioner of analogue sound. An Obsessive vinyl collector across genres, Digby is fast becoming known for his esoteric sets and bold selection. Alex & Digby’s experimental imprint FLASH AS A RAT is a vent of continual eccentricity, and has garnered wide-scale underground support. After the tragic passing of his brother Alex, Digby continues the legacy they built together. Downstairs in Tresor:  Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgen – the two artists behind Cassegrain – formed the project after a chance meeting at the Redbull Music Academy in Barcelona. In the years following, they collaborated remotely via email, sending stems back and forth before making a move to Berlin where they currently share a studio. In May 2016, Cassegrain folded a former secret alias and launched it as a label under the same name, Arcing Seas. Evirgen’s first record as Magna Pia was released via Counterchange, while Tsiridis released as Rhyw on Rotterdam’s Tar Hallow and Shifted’s Avian with more music forthcoming this year. For the last 12 years, Berlin-born Janina developed an impressive sharp ear, technical skills, an asserted signature, despite continuously evolving music tastes. Playing regularly in the best clubs in Berlin and in European capitals, Janina is now playing twice a month as a resident of Monasterio Club in Moscow. Sebastian Bayne is a DJ, producer and label owner based in Sydney Australia. His music is fast gaining the support of this peers as it is developing into his unique take on techno, as well as taking the reins of IF? label in 2010 from long time techno cohort Andrez Bergen aka Little Nobody, in 2010. IF? Records was established in Melbourne in 1995, has over 130 releases, and a roster that reads like a who’s who of the underground in the last 15 years.
