Founded in 1995 by by Frankie Bones, Adam X, and Heather Heart, Sonic Groove has a long and rich history involving top techno artists with cutting edge recordings, as well as a legendary Sonic Groove record store. Their early Brooklyn STORMraves established them as pioneers of U.S. rave culture. When the record store eventually closed in 2004, Adam X relocated the label to Berlin, directing it to further heights with a well built artist roster of contemporary techno and industrial artists and many new releases out each year. Sonic Groove, though one of the longest techno labels running, refuses to push the sounds of the past. Instead, they prefer to define the sound of the future. Aside from the enfant terrible himself Adam X on the decks, he brings several label artists for the showcase tonight: returning artist Post Scriptum’s nuclear sounding tracks were unearthed by the “Sandwell District” co-label owner Function. Post Scriptum released a debut album of Millsian disciplines simply called Post Scriptum 01 on Infrastructure New York and respected press outlets hailed his debut. Classic techno sound sources are clear to hear, alongside complex processing and a very original approach to arrangement that flavours and colours each track; as one of the hinges of the 90’s rave generation, Italian artist Max Durante’s sound and his presence have been fundamental for the early Italian Techno scene. Well respected as a DJ, thanks to his great mixing abilities, as well as a producer for his precious creativity in his recording productions, Max Durante is a true innovator of dark, industrial techno. Sonic Groove‘s latest high octane addition to the roster is Berlin-based British artist Rebekah. Rebekah has led a successful artist and DJ career in the techno scene over the past five years with releases on the prolific CLR and Soma imprints as well as her own labels Elements and Decoy. Taking her artistry into further realms of sound construction, Rebekah ventures into a much harder industrial techno terrain with her latest four cut Sonic Groove release entitled “Into the Black”. In Globus: in the last few years Argentinian Jonas Kopp has gained and produced a first-rate reputation, with his discography spread out not only over top international labels, but also his connection to Tresor Club, where Jonas Kopp has regularly played over the last few years, and then releasing his first full-length album on Tresor Records: “Beyond The Hypnosis” in 2014, and his follow-up full-length “Photon Belt” in June 2017. Frequent guest DJ from Austria Claudia Anderson returns to the decks tonight and complementing this line-up is Tresor Records artist Jose Cabrera aka J.C. from Spain, debuting in Tresor on one of the Echoes nights, who expresses a style of simple, raw, stripped down and hypnotic techno.
