A cracking Tuna Park tonight: one of underground techno’s true UK heros Regis gathers steam again in our home. Releasing on Tresor Records under his alias Karl O’Connor, he has a greater mythology surrounding the influential Downwards label that he has run with fellow art terrorist Peter Sutton (Female) since 1993. Unconventional and single-minded to say the least (what label can boast a back catalogue free of the industry standard cash cow remix) by decentralising the focus on the DJ/producer personality, Regis remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene, often collaborating with Function under the Sandwell District moniker. Simon Shreeve aka Mønic is owner of UK’s Osiris Music and Tresor Records is pleased to announce the new signing of Mønic. The British producer develops a singular breed of techno, formed by intricate rhythms and tantalizing textures. “Parsons Hill” is Mønic‘s debut EP on Tresor Records and is set for release on May 31st. The basement program is branded with power close-out support from Tresor resident Marcel Heese. In the +4Bar: French producer/DJ/label owner Charlie Naffah aka Lazare Hoche focused on building a solid catalog of releases, hitting a sweet spot with US house heads all the way to well known Romanian producers and launching his own eponymous record label. The LHR catalog to date is eight records deep and features vibe-drenched, no-nonsense house tools from Hoche and his associates. A bit of a gear nerd, Hoche favors hardware methods like cassette dubs and guitar pedals effect to create an always-personal and slightly twisted sound. Diego Krause is a DJ/producer who was born in Berlin’s eastern districts. He is co-Owoner of the Beste Modus imprint and runs his own label Unison Wax as a self-release outfit. His DJ-sets are powered by driving basslines with a raw 90’s texture and a tech-ish approach while always retaining a groovy, jacking feeling. Add to this house cocktail our house resident Handmade‘s wavelength: oscillating between house and techno styles, the dancing crowd in a firm grip, driven to fill the dancefloor.
